Visa to the United Kingdom (UK)

If you're planning a vacation or a business meeting in the United Kingdom (UK), you'll need a visa, and it can be quite challenging to make sense of the visa regulations. Therefore, you can benefit from ordering your UK visa through us, and we will ensure that the process runs smoothly.

Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) for the United Kingdom for citizens from visa-exempt countries

As of April 2, 2025, Danes and other EU citizens, who previously could travel visa-free to the United Kingdom, will need an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to enter the country.

From January 8, 2025, this requirement already applies to citizens from 48 other previously visa-exempt countries, including the United States, Canada, and others, who wish to visit or transit through the United Kingdom.

The ETA is valid for two years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first, and allows multiple entries to the UK with stays of up to six months.

To apply for an ETA, please fill out this form.

For your application, please attach the following:

  • A high-quality copy of your passport. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months after your return
  • A photo with a light background (You can take it with your phone camera. Shoulders must be visible. No glasses.). Read more about photo requirements here

Once we have received your application, you will receive an invoice, which you can pay via bank transfer or Nemoverførsel.

ETA is issued within 3 business days, sometimes even on the same day.

FAQ

You should apply for an ETA if you:

  • Plan to visit the United Kingdom for up to 6 months for tourism, business trips, visiting family or friends, or short-term studies.
  • Are coming to the UK for up to 3 months under the Creative Worker visa exemption.
  • Are participating in a permitted paid activity, such as giving a speech at a conference.
  • Are transiting through the UK and passing through border control.

Note: From April 2, 2025, all travelers from visa-exempt countries, including EU citizens, will be required to have an ETA to travel to the United Kingdom.

You do not need an ETA if you:

  • Have a valid visa for the United Kingdom.
  • Have permission to live, work, or study in the UK (including settled or pre-settled status).
  • Are a British or Irish citizen.
  • Are traveling with a British Overseas Territories passport.
  • Are a resident of Ireland and traveling from Ireland, Guernsey, Jersey, or the Isle of Man.

With an ETA, you can:

  • Stay in the UK for up to 6 months for tourism, visiting family and friends, business trips, or short-term studies.
  • Stay in the UK for up to 3 months under the Creative Worker visa exemption.
  • Participate in permitted paid activities.
  • Transit through the UK if you pass through border control.

With an ETA, you cannot:

  • Stay in the UK for more than 6 months.
  • Perform paid or unpaid work for a UK company or as a self-employed person, unless it is a permitted paid activity or under the Creative Worker visa exemption.
  • Receive public benefits.
  • Live permanently in the UK through frequent or successive visits.
  • Get married or register a civil partnership – for this, you must apply for a Marriage Visitor visa.

For stays longer than 6 months, or if the purpose of your trip is work, studies, or other activities, you must apply for an appropriate visa. It is important to ensure that your passport is valid for the entire duration of your stay and that you have the necessary documents for your trip.

You will usually receive a decision within 3 business days, but in some cases, it may take longer. It is recommended to apply well in advance of your planned travel date.

An ETA to the UK is valid for 2 years from the date of issuance or until your passport expires, whichever comes first.

During this period, you can use the same ETA for multiple trips to the UK, as long as each stay meets the allowed duration and purpose (e.g., tourism, business, short-term study, or transit).
