Visa to Ireland

Danish citizens can travel to Ireland visa-free for stays of up to 90 days. If you are traveling for work, it may be required to notify the Irish labour inspection authorities (if the work is of a technical nature). Read more about posting notifications for Ireland here.

If you hold a passport other than Danish, you may be required to obtain a visa for both tourist and business travel, as Ireland is not part of the Schengen Agreement. Read more about visas for Ireland for non-EU citizens below.

Business visa to Ireland (for non-EU citizens)

The processing time for the visa to Ireland would take around 3-4 weeks. However in some case it can take up to 6 weeks.

It is therefore a good idea to apply as soon as possible.

To apply for the business visa to Ireland please fill-out this application form

 To the application you would need to attache the following documents:

1.     An Application letter form you

Your letter must include:

  • Your full name and postal address
  • Reason you want to come to Ireland
  • Dates you plan to arrive and leave
  • Names and addresses of any members of your family who currently live in Ireland or any other EU/EEA country or Switzerland
  • Sign and date your letter.

Your letter must include a commitment from you that you will:

  • Obey the conditions of your visa in full.
  • Not rely on public services (for example public hospitals) or become a burden on the State
  • Leave Ireland before your immigration permission expires.

2.     An invitation letter

The invitation letter should have the information listed below:

·        The reason they are inviting you to Ireland

·        The dates they want you to work or meet with them

NB! If you wish to apply for a 1-year multiple entry visa, both the invitation letter and the application letter should clearly state that, as well as the dates of the first planned trip.

3.     A fresh photo (passport-sized, in color, taken against a white background). You can take it yourself with your phone against a white wall. We edit and print the photo to meet the consulate's requirements (150 DKK). Read more about visa photo requirements.

4.     Flight reservation+ Hotel booking.

5.     Travel insurance

6.     A copy of your residence permit (both sides)

7.     A letter of Guarantee from your current employer (The letter should state, that the company is paying for your travel expenses and expenses while in Ireland)

8.     Pay slips for the last three months.
