If you are travelling to Sweden in connection with your work, the Swedish Work Environment Authority must be notified accordingly. This requirement is established under Swedish legislation on posted workers and aims to ensure fair competition and protect employees’ rights.

The notification must be submitted to the relevant authorities before the work commences in Sweden.

Failure to comply with the notification requirement may result in significant sanctions for both the employer and the employee.

When is it required?

A posting notification must be submitted when:

  • A foreign company sends employees to Sweden
  • To perform a service for a client or business partner
  • For a limited period with a defined start and end date

As a general rule, this applies to all types of on-site work in Sweden, including short stays.

When must the posting notification be submitted?

  • No later than the start of work in Sweden

  • Information about your company
  • The client in Sweden (recipient of the service)
  • Copies of the employees’ passports
  • Work period and location
  • Appointment of a contact person in Sweden (name, date of birth, address in Sweden, email and phone number)

If you are going to work on a construction site in Sweden, you need an ID06 card. The card is generally issued for a duration of up to 25 days unless the project has been granted an exemption by the Swedish Work Environment Authority.

When is it required?

Only if the work is carried out on a construction site.

In Sweden, since 2016, it has been mandatory to have:

  • Electronic registration of all persons on construction sites
  • Use of the ID06 system

What is ID06?

ID06 is a system where:

  • Each employee is issued a personal ID card
  • The card is used for:
  • Identification
  • Registration of attendance
  • Control during inspections by authorities

The following documents must be attached to the form:

  • Valid identification (passport/ID)
  • A1 documentation (A1 certificate or application for an A1 certificate)
  • A digital color photo

Important

The ID06 card is generally issued with a validity of 25 days. For longer-term projects, it is possible to apply for an exemption, allowing the card to be valid for up to 180 days. Please contact us for further information.
